Take the tour and volunteer!

Preservation Durham's tour this year will concentrate on homes designed by
George Watts Carr. Seven houses in Forest Hills and Hope Valley have been
selected. Carr is a very interesting man. He began his business career as
partner in a shoe store. When that failed, he decided to take up
architecture and largely trained himself with reference materials he
purchased for his own architectural library. He had an eye, however, and he
was a great designer and draftsman. He became Durham's society architect.
On tour are wonderful Tudors and colonial revivals and what is without
question Durham's finest Art Deco home. You won't want to miss this event.
See http://preservationdurham.org/index.php/home-tour-2015/ for more
information.

The tour will be on April 25 and 26 from noon until 4 p.m.

Docents are needed! Tour docents are on hand to answer questions about the
houses and make sure things run smoothly. A volunteer shifts is just two
hours, the work is fun and easy, and docents get a significant price break
on tour tickets. If you can help. Please respond let Volunteer coordinator
Fred peterson know. His e-mail is fpetey at nc.rr.com .

Thanks,

Tom Miller
