Neighborhood & Community Watch Workshop Educates Durham Residents
Many Durham residents are now better informed about how to keep themselves, their families, and their neighbors safe. Approximately 70 residents participated in the Durham Police Department's annual Neighborhood & Community Watch Workshop<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8969> on April 16.

Aquatics Facilities Master Plan to be Developed
A master plan<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cma20160418/11045_MEMO_AQUATIC_FACILITIES_MASTER_386177_685394.PDF> to guide the future development of the City's aquatics facilities is one step closer to becoming reality. The City Council approved spending $112,000 on the development of the plan to assess the City's aquatic needs and provide concept plans for short-term and long-term development and improvements.

Youth Invited to Serve on Durham Youth Commission

Durham youth who want a voice in City government are invited to apply by April 30 to serve on the Durham Youth Commission<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/9877>. They commit to a one-year term of service and serve on City boards and committees as appointed. They must also complete 40 hours of community service and actively participate in all meetings, service projects, and special events sponsored by the commission.


One of Three Durham Parks to Get $20,000 in Improvements
One of three Durham parks is going to get $20,000 worth of improvements<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/9963>, and residents get to help decide which one. The three parks that can be voted on are Hillside Park, West Point on the Eno or Wrightwood Park. Residents can vote daily<http://www.nrpa.org/BeInspired> until April 30.
