Durham Named to 100 Best Fleets in North America

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham has received another award for its efforts to have one of the best government vehicle fleets in the industry.

The City’s Fleet Management Department<http://durhamnc.gov/1375/Fleet-Management> has been recognized as #49 by the 100 Best Fleets in the Americas(tm)<http://the100bestfleets.com/100_winners_2016.htm>. The 100 Best Fleets Program recognizes and rewards peak-performing fleet operations in North America. This awards program identifies and encourages ever-increasing levels of performance improvement within the fleet industry. The 100 Best Fleets award is based on numerous criteria including standard operating procedures, business plans, emergency operations planning, service level agreements, insourcing guidance, cost analysis, safety, audit criteria, and benchmarking.

This is the second award won by the City’s Fleet Management Department this month. The department was also named as one of the Top 50 Leading Fleets for 2016<http://www.government-fleet.com/channel/operations/news/story/2016/04/announcing-the-2016-leading-fleets.aspx> by Government Fleet magazine<http://www.government-fleet.com/> and the American Public Works Association<http://www.apwa.net/>. The awards program, sponsored by Ford Motor Company, recognizes operations that are performing at a high level, particularly in fleet leadership, competitiveness and efficiency, planning for the future, and overcoming challenges.
