1937 West Cornwallis Road, Durham, NC

What is the next chapter in the long book on protecting the water in Jordan and Falls Lakes? The Jordan and Falls Lake Rules are nutrient (as in where your fertilizer goes if it isn't helping your lawn) management strategies, designed to restore water quality in the lakes by reducing the amount of pollution entering upstream. Durham has a long history of being a good neighbor for both lakes. The General Assembly's last idea on cleaning up Jordan, the Solar Bees, didn't work so where will they go next?

  *

Our speakers will be:

* Aaron Cain, Planning Supervisor at the Durham Planning Department, will give an overview of the riparian buffer requirements and related rules in Durham development ordinance.

* Dustin Chicurel-Bayard, Director of Communications for the NC Sierra Club, will talk about what the General Assembly passed (or didn't pass) in the 2016 session.
