Durham Hosts Eno River Watershed Improvement Plan Meeting
Public Information Session Set to Share Results of Field Studies

DURHAM, N.C. - Residents who want to know how the City of Durham plans to improve the Eno River Watershed<https://durhamnc.gov/2890/Eno-River-Watershed-Improvement-Plan> should mark their calendars now to attend a March 21 public information session.

The session will be held on Tuesday, March 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Durham County North Regional Library<https://durhamcountylibrary.org/location/north/>, located at 221 Milton Road. The purpose of the meeting is to present the results of stream field studies and gather input from residents. The session also includes an interactive children's exhibit about some of the animals and plants that live in the Eno River watershed.

According to Sandra Wilbur<mailto:Sandra.Wilbur at DurhamNC.gov>, project manager with the Stormwater & GIS Services Division<http://durhamnc.gov/692/Stormwater-GIS-Services> of the City's Public Works Department, the meeting will outline how the Eno River Watershed Improvement Plan will provide a roadmap for future projects. "Field work completed this winter serves as a basis for the plan. Field crews surveyed 49 stream miles for overall stream quality, evidence of stream bank erosion, water quality problems, and restoration potential. They also studied 140 sites to find out if stormwater control measures could be built or improved," Wilbur said.

Next steps are to include public input and build computer models that help officials select projects that best protect water resources. For more information about the project visit the Eno River Watershed Plan Web page<https://durhamnc.gov/2890/Eno-River-Watershed-Improvement-Plan> or contact Wilbur at (919) 560-4326, extension 30286 or by email<mailto:Sandra.Wilbur at DurhamNC.gov>. Persons who require assistance to attend the session should call (919) 560-4197, TTY (919) 560-1200, or email<mailto:ADA at DurhamNC.gov> no later than 48 hours before the event.
