Durham Seeks Organizations to Apply for Federal and Dedicated Housing Funds
Application Workshop December 12; Applications Due February 2

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Community Development Department is inviting interested organizations to attend an application workshop this month to help them apply for federal and dedicated housing funds.

On Tuesday, December 12, the department plans to release applications via ZoomGrants<http://durhamnc.gov/445/Community-Development> for Home Investment Partnership (HOME), HOME Community Development Housing Organization (CHDO), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Dedicated Housing Funds (DHF) for the FY 2018-2019 period. The expected amount of federal funding to be available is as follows: $664,000 in HOME, $126,000 in HOME-CHDO, and $153,000 in ESG. Additionally, the expected amount of DHF funding to be available is as follows: $200,000 for rapid re-housing activities, $1 million for multifamily preservation, $750,000 for smaller-scale production and preservation, and $297,000 for minor repair.

To assist interested organizations in applying for these federal and dedicated housing funds, the department is hosting an application process workshop on Tuesday, December 12 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Neighborhood Improvement Services Department, located 807 E. Main St., Bldg. 2, Suite 300, Durham. The workshop is limited to no more than two representatives from each organization, and it is strongly suggested that one of those attending be from the organization's finance staff. Organizations who wish to attend should RSVP by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 8.

All federal funds are provided to the City through annual entitlement grants administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The federal funds, and a portion of the DHF, will be distributed through this competitive application process. All activities and funding amounts for FY 2018-2019 are subject to competitive award, and applications requesting funding for activities not specified will be deemed ineligible. All applications must be submitted via ZoomGrants<http://durhamnc.gov/445/Community-Development> by 3 p.m. on February 2, 2018.

To RSVP to attend the application workshop or for more information about the grant funds available, contact Federal Programs Coordinator Wilmur Conyers with the City's Community Development Department at (919) 560-4570, ext. 22277 or by email<mailto:wilmur.conyers at durhamnc.gov>.
