The Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association -

  is excited to announce the launch of the Watershed Academy, a
community development opportunity to enhance participants' knowledge
in local urban watershed planning and stewardship.

Do you live in East Durham or Braggtown? Are you interested in
becoming an environmental advocate for your neighborhood and
community? Then the Watershed Academy might be for you.

This four-month program will meet virtually on Saturdays from
10am-1pm beginning on September 19th. As a participant you will
receive a $400 stipend, an environmental toolkit, a certificate of
completion, and a range of skills and resources needed to address
environmental issues and build climate change resiliency in your
community.

Durham Environmental Affairs Board Positions Available
There are currently two openings on the Durham Environmental Affairs
Board -

  (EAB). Seats for the EAB are appointed by both City Council and
County Commissioners; therefore the two different seats need to be
applied to on two different websites. One is a County seat for
somebody in the engineering field (application due Aug 30), the
second is a City seat for somebody in the law field (application due
Aug 15). A third County At-Large seat will be opening soon but is not
currently listed. There is also an at-large position available on the
Durham Open Space and Trails -

  (DOST) Commission through the County.
