At FMC Lithium, we require contractors working on or in our process areas or that could affect our process to have a minimum of $1M in liability insurance. We also require an acceptable Experience Modified Rate. We do not have a threshold for a minimum # of employees.

I hope this helps.

Subject: [MCIC Safety] CONTRACTOR SAFETY LIABILITY COVERAGE

Hello All,
We are currently reviewing our contractor insurance requirements and would like to know what others are doing. What minimum general liability and coverage limits are you requiring for your contractors? Are you requiring contractors with less than three employees to have worker's comp coverage even though not required by NC law?
Thanks A Lot!
Dick McDonald
