Hi folks, thanks for getting his started on all the many fronts!

I would agree with Lewis about a schema.org<http://schema.org> session at US2TS. It might be nice to look at how to properly extend schema.org<http://schema.org> in that context as it might draw Dan Brickley and/or Natasha to attend. I was thinking we could briefly review a successful extension (GS1), propose some extensions from the geosciences (improving temporal coverage of Dataset - with OWL Time, SWEET,) and use mode of the time brainstorming on the mechanics of the extension (how best to link into schema.org<http://schema.org> core classes and properties) and constructing the data model for the extension (identify the new classes and properties needed to describe temporal coverage needs.

For ESIP winter meeting, I was thinking in advance of US2TS, we might propose more along a workshop session for building out the data model for this dataset temporal coverage model and/or describing data access APIs (as opposed to the static datasets schema.org<http://schema.org> describes).

If anyone doesn’t object, I’d be happy to write up both.

   Hello Sem Techies,

   We are a busy committee and I need your help to keep things moving. Here?s what we?ve got going:

     1.  Our AGU abstract was accepted as an eLightening session. An iPoster will need to be created and I hope to get inputs from everyone for this. I?ll put together a rough (very rough) draft of a poster and put it on Google Slides for people to comment on/contribute to.

Excellent. I'll contribute once the bones are there.

     2.  At our last meeting, we talked about possibly submitting a session proposal for the U.S. Semantic Technologies Symposium 2019. Proposals are due Oct 31. Please take a look at the website at http://us2ts.org/2019/ and email the list if you have ideas for a session that you?d like to submit.

I think this is a good suggestion yes. The CfP is available at http://us2ts.org/2019/posts/cfp.html and I would suggest that anyone interested take a look at it. Their guidelines state that a suitable balance of participants is 3 with each preferably being from a different institution. If we can align on a topic for our session, then I doubt we will struggle to meet these guidelines.

I suggest that we propose one of the following
* a panel discussion focused on discussing the Semantic Web Infusion Roadmap and Hype Cycle (https://esipfed.github.io/stc/Semantic_Tech_Roadmap/SemanticTechRoadmap.html). This would cover generalities such as fundamental Semantic Technologies but would be skewed towards the Earth Science's to make it a bit more interesting hopefully, OR
* Breakout-style discussions on a proposed topic with that topic being use of established vocabularies (schema.org<http://schema.org>) for improving data discovery across the sciences. This would provide some continuity on the underlying theme of this year's GeoSemantics Symposium we will be hosting in January as well as an AGU Session on a very similar topic.

     3.  Speaking of symposiums, we need to plan for the 2019 Geosemantics Symposium in January. Please submit your ideas for themes and guest speakers for this symposium to the list.

As a theme, I suggest we stick with "... use of established vocabularies e.g. schema.org<http://schema.org>, for improving data discovery across the sciences."
The reason I propose that we stick with a common theme is that it is beginning to gain acceptance. To put it into the terminology used by Peter Fox during his Hype Cycle presentation, schema.org<http://schema.org> has entered the Plateau of Productivity! My feeling is that if we stick with it, we could make some serious impact.
