Durham One Call Now Accepting Graffiti Reports

Residents Can Now Report Graffiti Online Or By Phone

Durham, N.C. - Durham residents can now easily report graffiti directly to the City of Durham through Durham One Call's newly updated online form or by phone. "We've had a good response from our residents with approximately 85 reports submitted since our online reporting form became available in September. Because of this success, we wanted to expand our service and take reports on graffiti both online and by phone," said Scott Reed, manager for the City's Durham One Call Center. "Now, citizens have the convenience of logging onto our website or calling one phone number to report graffiti, which further assists the City's efforts to improve the aesthetics of our community."

Residents can log onto the City's website at http://www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall/online_index.cfm and follow the simple steps listed to report any graffiti they see throughout the City. Once they report the graffiti to Durham One Call, a service request is issued to the appropriate City department, depending on whether the graffiti is found on public or private property, and a report is also sent to the Durham Police Department for enhanced tracking of community-wide graffiti locations.

Durham One Call strongly encourages residents to be as detailed as possible when providing information on the location of the graffiti they are reporting. "To avoid delays when we process a service request, we need specific and detailed information on the online form," said Reed. "Requests received without sufficient information could result in the graffiti not being removed in a timelier manner."

Once requests are submitted online, residents will be e-mailed a confirmation number notifying them that the service request was successfully received by Durham One Call. The online form requires that residents provide their name, address, and daytime telephone number. Residents who wish to receive correspondence by e-mail can also provide this information as well. "If a citizen still wishes to report a problem anonymously, they can contact Durham One Call by phone at 560-1200," said Reed.
