i just got off the phone with a customer service rep at DMV.
this is not true. There is (and has been) a 120 day grace period after
your inspection sticker expires to get it renrewed.
What's new is that if your car is still registered 120 days after your
inspection expires, you will get a $250 fine automatically. You do not
need to be pulled over to get this fine.

the woman i spoke with at DMV says they are getting a ton of phone calls
about this email. please don't forward it any further. you can call DMV
yourself to verify if you're not comfortable with my word, but you'll be
on hold for quite some time when you do, as a good many people are alos
calling for the same reason.
