INC NEWS - Fayetteville Assemblage requesting to fill in floodway fringe -- please help!

Hi again. I have been informed of the following
information and would greatly appreciate it if you
would write your county commissioners to opposed the
filling of the floodway that is now being proposed. If
you think we have drainage problems now, just wait
'till our creeks are filled...

Here is the information:

Fayetteville Assemblage is the Stanziale-Toll Bros.
project in South Durham that recently received
rezoning approval, to many's surprise.
Stanziale/Fayetteville-Assemblage is now going before
the BOCC to ask to be allowed to fill a portion of the
floodway fringe of Crooked Creek to place a road there
to cross the creek. Commissioner Becky Heron has
communicated her opinion that BOCC needs to hear from
people on this. As such, I was asked to email my
Durham contact list and request that people send a
message to the commissioners that this is
unacceptable. 

We must do everything possible to protect our creeks
and floodplains. Rezoning projects are voted on based
on very little information (the plans are all
conceptual with the exception of the number and maybe
size of lots, the entry points and any committed
elements)...hence this new component regarding the
filling of a floodway/creek.
