Public Workshop -- Citizens can drop-in at a public workshop to review,
discuss and provide feedback to staff in a one-on-one discussion format:
Durham County Public Library (Downtown Auditorium), Tuesday, September 4,
2007, 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
(It is embarrassing when there are more more staff folks than public at
these meetings)
They will have maps of where they expect increase in residences and jobs
over next 20 years (mostly south of South Pointe, in Treyburn, and toward
east between 70 and 98) and an opportunity to comment on what the goals and
objectives of the plan should be (these are, in my opinion, actually
CONSTRAINTS on the one real objective of getting plan that shows we meet air
quality standards so we can get our federal transportation $$ and go on to
the next round of planning (-:). Seriously, apparently the computer
programs are more cooperative about letting us do "what if we have different
development patterns" and really dig into what the models are telling us, so
please at least encourage them to do this.
