How should Neighborhoods, Governments, & Housing groups work together 
to revitalize neighborhoods & create affordable housing? 
Campaign for Decent Housing Annual Town Hall Meeting
Saturday, October 20, 12:00-3:00pm (enter on Taylor St.)
Eastway Elementary School, 610 N. Alston Ave.
(after the Partners Against Crime District 1 meeting 9:30-11:30am)

Meet elected officials, candidates & neighborhood leaders.
Work together to make every home & neighborhood safe.
Help repair homes, revitalize neighborhoods, and reuse vacant properties.
Volunteer for the new Neighborhood Revitalization & Home Repair Program.
Get involved in the 10-year Plan to End Homelessness.

Introduce Elected Officials & Candidates
Announce new Neighborhood Revitalization & Volunteer Home Repair Program

12:45-1:30 Small group discussions:
1. How can neighborhoods organize & plan revitalization with 
affordable housing groups & governments? (Dorcas Bradley, Southwest 
Central Durham Quality of Life)

2. How can we revitalize neighborhoods without displacing lower 
income residents? (Ray Eurquhart, Southside/St. Theresa Neighborhood)

3. How can we work together to prevent unsafe houses & reuse vacant 
houses? (Constance Stancil, City Neighborhood Improvement Services, & 
Leslie Page, Durham Regional Association of Realtors)

4. How can affordable housing for formerly homeless & other people 
with special needs enhance neighborhood revitalization? (Edy 
Thompson, 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness)

1:30-3:00 Next Steps:
Specific proposals to present to City Council, County Commission & 
School Board.
(Small groups report, elected officials respond, audience questions & answers.)
