INC NEWS - Lakewood YMCA Update

Neighbors,

After the Committee to Save the Lakewood YMCA's "CALL TO ACTION" two weeks
ago regarding the lack of transparency by the Triangle YMCA, the Durham
Advisory Board chose not to vote last Thursday, Nov. 8th on the current
recommendation of how to "repurpose" the Lakewood YMCA.  Instead, they have
scheduled a public hearing to give the community a chance to speak openly
about how they feel about the YMCA and the current recommendation.  This is
a clear response to all of the support from everyone across Durham who
realizes the importance of having institutions like the YMCA in our
neighborhoods.  Your neighbors in Southwest Central Durham thank you for all
of your help!!!

Please try to attend this public hearing (details follow).  The format is
very similar to the City Council public hearings.  The YMCA staff asks that
you sign-up to speak in advance but if you show up a little early you can
probably sign-up at the meeting as well.

The Committee to Save the Lakewood YMCA has provided some brief talking
points below should you wish to highlight some of our shared concerns during
your speaking time.
