City of Durham Honored for Improving Mobility in the Triangle
Durham, N.C. - The City of Durham was among several winners recognized
for improving mobility in the Triangle at the 2007 Regional Mobility
Awards, which took place during the 6th Annual Meeting of the Regional
Transportation Alliance on November 29, 2007.
According to the Regional Transportation Alliance, the City received the
Regional Pedestrian-Bicycle Improvement-of-the-Year Award for its
recently completed $14.2 million Downtown Streetscape Project, which
significantly enhanced Durham's downtown by reconstructing streets,
improving pedestrian facilities, and encouraging investment in the city
center.
Other winners included the North Carolina Department of Transportation,
the Special Transit Advisory Commission, the Raleigh/Durham Airport
Authority, the Triangle Transit Authority, N.C. State University,
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, SmartCommute at RTP, and the
Town of Cary.
