Durham Finance Department Earns Reporting Honor


 National Award Recognizes Outstanding Achievement in Government
Reporting


 

Durham, N.C. - The City of Durham's popular financial report, the
Citizens' Financial Report, has been recognized for the fourth
consecutive year for outstanding achievement by the Government Finance
Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

 

The Citizens' Financial Report is an annual publication providing an
overview of the City's financial condition and summary of the City's
progress during the previous fiscal year.  This year's award is for
Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial for the fiscal year
ended June 30, 2007.  

 

This national award recognizes the highest standards for preparation of
state and local government popular reports.  In order to receive this
award, the City's Department of Finance had to publish a report whose
contents had to conform to program standards of creativity,
presentation, understandability, and reader appeal.

 

Copies of the Citizens' Financial Report were distributed as an insert
in The Herald-Sun on December 28, 2007.  A copy of the report is also
available on the City's Web site at

About the City of Durham's Department of Finance

The mission of the City's Department of Finance is to professionally and
prudentially enhance the City's financial position. The department is
divided into two main components, a treasury component and a
controller's component. The treasury component is subdivided into
Treasury Management, Risk Management, and Purchasing. The controller's
component is subdivided into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and
