Durham Water Management Director Announced

 

Durham, N.C. - City Manager Thomas Bonfield has named Interim Director
Donald F. Greeley as the director of the City of Durham's Department of
Water Management.

 

He succeeds Terry Rolan, who retired in August 2007.  Greeley has
managed the department's operations as the interim director since July
2008.  Prior to this role, Greeley served as deputy director of the
department as well as a systems engineer.   

 

Greeley has almost 25 years of service with the City having worked his
way up the ranks from a civil engineer progressing to his current
position.  He holds a bachelor of civil engineering degree from Brown
University, and completed coursework in the master of environmental
engineering program at Duke University.  Greeley also completed the
program in municipal administration at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill School of Government and completed the American Water
Works Association's Advanced Management Institute at the Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University.  He is a registered
professional engineer and registered professional land surveyor.

 

Greeley's appointment is effective Monday, February 9, 2009.  His annual
salary will be $120,000.

The City's Department of Water Management is responsible for the
operation and maintenance of Durham's water supply, water treatment and
water reclamation (wastewater treatment) facilities, the collection and
distribution systems (including meter reading) and customer billing
