Books for public elementary school students

The Regulator Bookshop is happy to announce that the bookstore is partnering
with the Durham Public Schools to collect books for the schools to give to
their elementary school students. The Regulator is offering a 20% discount
to anyone who buys and donates books to this project, which the schools are
calling the Bookmark Project.

The Bookmark folks have provided a wish list, easily accessible on the
Regulator web site. But they'll take any books suitable for young children.
Donate your favorite books from your childhood, or the books you most
enjoyed sharing with your family.
 
The project is looking for books in all elementary school reading and
interest levels. Series of books are especially welcome. The Regulator
Bookshop also just added (in the bookstores¹ kids section) a summer reading
display featuring all the 2010 Battle of the Books, with free checklists.

list. The bookstore has a tub at the front counter to collect donated books..
The Bookmark project is happy to take gently used books as donations as
well.

All books will be presented to the Durham Public Schools! Books are desired
soon so that books can get distributed to kids before they leave for summer
but the drive will probably continue throughout the summer.

Everything -- Save up to $5,000 a year'
 
This book shows people how to spend much less money on everyday expenses,
with no extra work and no change in lifestyle. The book contains hundreds of
little known tips. It also contains a good deal of 'media literacy'
information which shows consumers how to avoid being manipulated by
marketing and advertising forces. Many of the tips also help the environment
as well. Doble is a former Durham-Chapel Hill resident.

Percentage of businesses sales goes to Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC)

A Lisa Russell film in association with Ipas, explores abortion in Ethiopia
through the voices and experiences of women who have struggled to find the
care that they need. The film, which is about 20-minutes-long, also is
available for free download and viewing at www.notyetrain.org.
 
There will be a discussion moderated by Kirsten Sherk, Co-Producer of the
film, Ipas Executive Vice President Anu Kumar, and Ipas Africa Region
Manager Shirley Owino.

Hosted by Ipas. Ipas is an international organization that works around the
world to increase women's ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive
rights, and to reduce abortion-related deaths and injuries. The organization
believes that women everywhere must have the opportunity to determine their
futures, care for their families and manage their fertility.
