[Durham INC] FW: New Reading Curriculum in Durham Public Schools

Please see the link below, and don't forget to read the comments posted by concerned parents. Thanks to Kevin Davis for making us aware of DPS's recent move to purchase and mandate a reading curriculum for our elementary school teachers. I hope that anyone concerned about the centralization, standardization and privatization of our kids' education, will write the school board with their concerns...and will consider taking some time to attend the next DPS school board meeting.
 
DPS cut summer school this year, yet spent millions on Reading Street, a standardized reading program that is being mandated for elementary school teachers this year. Does anybody else see a problem with this?
