Neighbors,
The billboard industry is making their move to overturn Durham's
current ban on electronic billboards. You can read about their
proposals inToday's Herald-Sun article
<http://www.heraldsun.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Digital+billboard+firm+zeros+in+on+law%20&id=4381153-Digital+billboard+firm+zeros+in+on+law&instance=homesecondleft>on
the billboard industry's proposal to overturn Durham's current
billboard ordinance & allow electronic billboards in Durham.
From Herald_Sun article: "A poll commissioned by the Durham
Convention & Visitors Bureau also found over the summer that the
public supports the existing ordinance by roughly a ...3-to-1
margin. Specifically, the survey found that 72 percent of
residents support the existing ordinance, 8 percent didn't support
it and 20 percent were undecided. Whites and blacks were about
equally likely to favor the current ordinance, and there were no
significant differences of opinion between men and women."
If you're among the 72% who opposes electronic billboards and the
billboard industry's desire to overturn Durham's current billboard
ordinance IT IS TIME TO START VOICING OPPOSITION TO THE ELECTRONIC
BILLBOARD INDUSTRY'S PROPOSAL TO CHANGE DURHAM'S BILLBOARD
ORDINANCE. Email our elected officials & tell them to oppose the
billboard industry's attempt to override public opinion and
overturn existing ordinances:
County Commissioners: commissioners at durhamcountync.gov /
City Council: Council at DurhamNC.Gov
