Fast Facts

* At the White House Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth last
week, President Barack Obama asked that cities convene similar forums to
hear from local businesses and residents about how to create and sustain
jobs at the local and national levels.

* In response to the president's call to action, Mayor William
V. "Bill" Bell, along with the Durham Workforce Development Board and
the City's Office of Economic & Workforce Development, are hosting a
local forum on Wednesday to gather feedback from the community.

* Participants will be asked to provide input on issues such as
job creation and public policy; investment ideas; tax breaks; connecting
Durham to high-growth industries; and beginning a "green revolution" in
Durham.

* Information shared at this forum will then be provided to
President Obama and his senior economic team to help guide his approach
to job creation and economic growth. All Durham residents and the news
media are invited to attend.

* For additional information about this local forum, contact the
City's Office of Economic & Workforce Development at (919) 560-4965.
