I helped draft one of the bills in question as a part of my official duties.
It would require licensing of professional homeowner association managers
and establish minimum standards for the handling of HOA money.  Under these
circumstances, it would be impossible for me to speak for INC.  The bill is
supported by my client, the NC Real Estate Commission and the principal
trade organization of home owner association professionals, the CAI.  This
is their "Call to Action" below.

 

While we can't get an INC position on the bill before the 2d, it is
something we should take up.  I will put the bill on our agenda and hand the
gavel to our VP.

Dear Community Leader 

The House of Representatives in North Carolina has appointed a select
committee to study homeowner's associations and make recommendations for
future legislation.  There is a single public hearing scheduled for Tuesday
February 2 at 2 PM.  In general,  hearings like these tend to draw an
unhappy minority to speak out.  We are asking that you consider
participating if you have an alternate balance to bring to the attention of
the committee.
