Hi all,

Since I know many of us may take these road or give others directions using these roads I thought I'd pass this along. It may take some time for Google and GPS systems to be updated.

Heads-up for those who ride southern Durham/western Wake/northern Chatham. If you're using a posted cue sheet that goes through this area, double-check it or risk finding yourself in an infinite loop! Branson
ROAD NAME CHANGES GO INTO EFFECT MARCH 1, 2010, IN WESTERN WAKE COUNTY
Wake County Commissioners recently approved a recommendation to rename Green Level to Durham Road (SR 1625) and a portion of Alston Avenue (SR 1630), effective Monday, March 1, 2010. The new name will be Green Level Church Road. The affected roads are part of nine miles of state roads extending north and south, between U.S. 64 West in Apex and N.C. Highway 55 in Durham.
County staff, along with Town of Cary staff, recommended the name change to reduce confusion for Public Safety responders and motorists. Emergency service providers have agreed that a single road name with sequential addressing will help ensure safe and efficient service delivery. The change also eliminates duplicate road names.
Wake County and the Town of Cary held public hearings to notify affected property owners of the proposed name change and to allow feedback from the public. Property owners were notified of the name change prior to the public hearings. Of the 86 properties affected, addresses will change for 12 households in the unincorporated areas.
