Durham Names New Chief Information Officer

 

DURHAM, N.C. - City Manager Tom Bonfield announced today that Kerry L.
Goode of Charlottesville, Va. has been appointed as the new chief
information officer of the City's Technology Solutions Department.  

 

Goode will be responsible for directing the City's Department of
Technology Solutions to ensure that efficient information services are
provided to the citizens and employees of the City of Durham.  The
department consists of eight divisions, including Web Development,
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Software Development, Database
Administration, Systems and Network, Data Center Operations, User
Support, and the Help Desk.  

 

"We're excited to have Kerry join our team since he brings almost three
decades of experience and knowledge to our organization," Bonfield said.
"Effectively communicating with the residents of Durham continues to be
one of our top priorities.  We learned from our recent citizen
satisfaction survey that 42 percent of those surveyed get their
information from the City's Web site.  Kerry's expertise will ensure
that our technology stays up-to-date so that Durham residents will
increase their use of important tools to get information about City
programs and services."

 

Prior to joining the City, Goode was the director of Information
Technology for the City of Charlottesville, Va.; the director of
Information Technology for the City of Danville, Va.; and the supervisor
of Management Information Systems (MIS) for Danville Public Schools in
Danville, Va.

 

Goode received both his master's degree in Management of Information
Technology and his Certificate of Leadership from the Senior Executive
Institute at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.  He
received his bachelor's of science degree from Liberty University in
Lynchburg, Va.

 

Goode replaces former Director Michiyo Wagner, who retired in January
2010.  He will join the City on Monday, April 5, 2010.
