Home Is Not One Story is a community-based project highlighting
stories from those who have experienced homelessness and housing
instability in North Carolina. From foster youth to shelter residents,
immigrants to refugees, these individuals and families have much to
communicate about identity, place, and access. They have much to teach
us about survival, flexibility, and the power of home. They have much
to say.

The ArtsCenter in Carrboro

“A person without a home is called homelost or poor. 

Being without a home changes the world.”

April 9, 5:30pm

Exhibit Opening and Reception: self-portraits, small houses, and
community prayer flags. Part of the 2nd Friday Art Walk. Exhibit runs
April 9 - May 2, 2010.

Audio Tour: Stories of home and homelessness from across North
Carolina. CDs on sale at the reception.

Animation Window: Opening night on Franklin Street, in conjunction
with the NC State media lab and the Chapel Hill Public Arts Office

April 9 & 10, 8:00 pm

On Stage

“We packed a big white bag full of bread and cheese and warm
clothes and I was in charge of holding it. And I remember walking
through the port where all these people were screaming and yelling and
being so scared. And the next step I take I’m in the water. I
remember hearing my mom scream . . .”
