Durham Begins Hillandale Road Sidewalk Construction Project

Project Begins Week of July 12th; Minor Traffic Delays Expected

DURHAM, N.C. - Beginning Monday, July 12, 2010, residents and business
owners will note new sidewalk construction on Hillandale Road between
Cammie and Peppertree Streets.

The project will begin on the east side of Hillandale Road at Peppertree
Street and is expected to take up to three months to complete, ending at
Cammie Street. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained
throughout the project, but minor motorist delays should be expected.
Residents and businesses in the area are being notified of the upcoming
project with door hangers.

The Hillandale Road project is part of the overall 2010 Sidewalk
Construction and Repairs Project (SW-25) that kicked off in May. The
project consists of repairs and installation of sidewalks and curb-cut
ramps to portions of Dearborn Drive, Hillandale Road, Hillsborough Road,
Markham Avenue, Hope Valley Road, Washington Street, and University
Drive.

The overall project, funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act
(ARRA), will cost $504,328. More information can be found on the City's
website at www.durhamnc.gov/departments/works/project_SW-25.cfm.

Any questions about this ARRA project may also be directed to Tim
Jackson, civil engineer with the City's Department of Public Works, at
(919) 560-4326, ext. 30255 or via e-mail at Tim.Jackson at durhamnc.gov.
