³Starting July 13, 2009, the City of Durham recycling program is getting

practice of reuse. The goal is to divert good, useable items away from the
waste stream and conserve valuable landfill space. Residents having items in
working, useable condition donate them to the Swap Shop. Residents in need
of items visit the Swap Shop looking for the items. If the items are
available, they take them. "Swapping" extends both the life of the items and
the life of the landfill.
