[Durham INC] Billboards tonight!

Dear Neighbors:

 

At 7 p.m. tonight, in the Old Courthouse on Main Street, the Durham Board of
County Commissioners will take up the billboard issue.  Just because we won
in the city doesn't mean the BOCC won't be swayed into allowing billboard
upgrades, reconcentration, and digital billboards at Durham's gateways.

 

You can be sure the industry will have its friends and employees (from other
counties) there to help them make extravagant promises to win their case.
We have sent lots of e-mails and while that's great, our e-mails won't
occupy seats in the commissioners' hearing room tonight.  We need people,
lots of people, if we hope to win this thing.

 

Please come to the BOCC tonight and support our county neighbors in their
fight, our fight, against a new plague of ugly signs in Durham.  I wish I
could promise you that it will be fun, but I can't.  Democracy vs. money is
hard work.  It shouldn't be, but it is.
