The City of Durham is offering voters a chance to become more informed
about the upcoming $20 million street bond referendum by visiting
www.DurhamOperationGreenlight.org. The website explains which streets
would be repaved if the bond funds are approved and offers an update on
all of Durham's street repaving projects. Residents can also visit the
website to find out when and where community information sessions will

Triangle Transit Receives Increased Authority to Operate and Update
Transit Trip Planning Services

The City Council approved an inter-local agreement between Durham and
Triangle Transit. The agreement allows Triangle Transit to operate,
manage, enhance, and update the Regional Call Center and the GoTriangle
website to accommodate the current and future trip planning needs of
transit customers. Senior Transportation Planner Pierre Osei-Owusu
explains how this will help make using the regional bus system as simple
as possible on the upcoming episode of "City Hall This Week."

Federal Stimulus Funds Help Pay for Mass Transit Passenger Information
Project

The City Council approved a $729,637 contract for the purchase and
installation of a mass transit passenger information system. The program
is expected to help improve bus arrival and on-time performance of
Durham Area Transit Authority's (DATA) fixed route system, which will
allow customers to know whether buses will be late or arriving on time.
Most of the funds to pay for the new system were awarded to Durham
through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Senior
Transportation Planner Pierre Osei-Owusu explains why this information
is expected to be helpful to DATA customers on the upcoming episode of
"City Hall This Week."
