Board of Elections Reminds Citizens of Early-Voting Option

October 8, 2010

Durham, NC - Board of Elections Offices (BOE) across North Carolina are preparing their polls for Election Day 2010, scheduled for Tuesday, November 2. Like many of these offices, Durham County's BOE will open its doors before Election Day for citizens that desire to cast their ballots early.

According to Mike Ashe, director of the Durham County Board of Elections, One Stop Early Voting is designed to operate just the same as Election Day and to be a more convenient voting period for citizens. "The exact same ballot is used during One Stop Early Voting," Ashe said. "All ballots cast early are counted on election night along with all other ballots."

One Stop Early Voting allows citizens to vote prior to Election Day, on October 14 - October 30, at one of the following voting polls:

BOE Office706 West Corporation Street
North Regional Library221 Milton Road
South Regional Library 4507 South Alston Street

Each early-voting location has different hours of operation. The schedule of operation for early- voting locations can be found on the Durham BOE website.

All voting polls will be open on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. To view poll locations and voting rules and regulations, visit the Durham BOE website. To obtain an absentee by mail ballots, before the request deadline of October 26, contact the BOE Office.

For more information about pre-election and Election Day events, contact the Durham BOE Office at 919-560-0700 or visit the Durham BOE website.
