Friends -- please forward widely:

How will Durham's young people vote in the midterm elections? We'll find out on Nov. 2 - but we need your help to make sure every young person who wants to can voice their choice for U.S. Senate and House, NC Legislature, and the other important candidates and issues on the 2010 ballot.

Kids Voting Durham needs volunteers to run polling sites on Election Day, Nov. 2, and to help before and after elections. This is a fun and rewarding parent/child, youth group, or community group activity. Attached is more information on adopting a polling site.

Why should you help kids vote? Two big reasons:

First, you're helping to build Durham's next great civic generation. As 2nd grader & Kids Voting participant Ben says, "It's cool to vote. You can choose what your world will be like." Odds are, Ben's going to grow up to be an active voter.

Second, when kids are excited about casting a ballot, parents get excited too. In communities where kids vote, adult turnout rises by at least 3%-5%.

For more information about how to be involved, contact Carolyn Kreuger, Kids Voting Durham at 919/560-7321 or info at kidsvotingdurham.org.

Happy voting to all,

Carolyn
