Durham's Third Fork Creek Watershed Improvement Project Update Session
November 3

Meeting to Provide Progress Report and Solicit Resident Input

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham residents interested in revitalizing the health of
Third Fork Creek will get a chance to make their opinions known thanks
to an upcoming public meeting in early November.

The City of Durham's Department of Public Works will host a public
information session regarding the Third Fork Creek Watershed Improvement
Project on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 7 p.m. in the second floor
Committee Room of City Hall, located at 101 City Hall Plaza, Durham. The
session will immediately follow the 6 p.m. meeting of the Durham
City/County Environmental Affairs Board.

This session will provide residents and interested stakeholders a
progress report on the project, which began in October 2009 with field
crews assessing streams and stormwater devices in the Third Fork Creek
watershed. According to Dave Brown, project manager with the Engineering
and Stormwater Services Division of the City's Department of Public
Works, the session will also allow input on additional locations for
watershed restoration opportunities. "Since the primary goals of this
project are to revitalize the health of Third Fork Creek and to comply
with water quality regulations, we value the input of Durham residents
in shaping and prioritizing the watershed restoration," Brown said.

To view a map of the neighborhoods that are included in the assessment,
visit the City's website at

additional information about the project, contact Brown at (919)
560-4326, ext. 30241 or via e-mail at david.brown at durhamnc.gov.
