Keep Durham Beautiful Hosts Free Community Grant Program Information
Session

Wednesday, January 5, 2011 5:30pm, Durham City Hall

Neighborhood Groups Invited to Apply for KDB Grant Funding

Durham-based residents, volunteer groups and educators looking to make a
difference in Durham's appearance, but lacking the necessary funds to
get their project going, should take note of Keep Durham Beautiful's
(KDB) free information session to learn more about its bi-annual grant
program on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 5:30pm, Durham City Hall, first
floor conference room.

Keep Durham Beautiful awards grants of up to $500 each (two cycles:
January and August) to any Durham-based volunteer group, individual or
teacher looking to organize projects that supports its key objectives to
reduce litter, increase recycling and/or enhance beautification.

The Wednesday, January 5 information session will provide details on the
process and a chance to speak to landscape and forestry professionals to
help organize projects for spring 2011:

* Learn how easily individuals, teachers or groups can apply for a Keep
Durham Beautiful grant

* Meet previous grant recipients and see 'before and after' photos of
their accomplishments

* Chat with professional Landscape Architects Mark Hough (Duke
University) and Marlilee Martin (City of Durham), Kevin Lilley of City
of Durham's Parks & Urban Forestry and Keep Durham Beautiful Executive
Director Dorothea Pierce.

Interested parties attending the January 5 session will receive special
consideration of their proposals.

The Keep Durham Beautiful Spring 2011 Grant Application deadline is
Monday, January 31, 2011.
