CARRBORO (January 6, 2011) –The 1,400 night wait is over. Bettye LaVette
returns to The ArtsCenter Saturday, January 29 and headlines The ArtsCenter’s
8th annual American Roots Series. Ms. LaVette “rivals Aretha Franklin as her
generation’s most vital soul singer” says the New York Times.

The ArtsCenter’s annual American Roots Series is the best of music nurtured on
American soil and known throughout the world, especially tailored for audiences
who love an intimate, up-close-and-personal, live venue.
Other highlights of the American Roots Series include the Mangum & Company Shout
Band, from Charlotte, January 14, and the Southern Sacred Steel Conference,
March 17-20. The first of its kind in North Carolina, the Southern Sacred Steel
Conference highlights Sacred Steel music: infectious, uplifting, steel-guitar
fronted sounds from certain House of God churches. Here’s the complete series
