Durham Offers Two January Workshops for Out-of-Work Professionals
Workshops Facilitated by Industry Professionals
DURHAM, N.C. - Out-of-work professionals interested in sharpening their
skills to become more competitive in today's job market should mark
their calendars now for two, free workshops this month designed
specifically for adult professionals.
The Professional Placement Network (PPN), which offers targeted career
services to adult professionals through the expansion of networking
opportunities, workshops, development of business partnerships, and job
referrals, is hosting two free workshops this month. Designed to provide
opportunities for mid-to-upper level professionals who have earned at
least $30,000 per year or have received higher education credentials or
professional certifications, PPN provides a place for professionals to
come together to share ideas, employment leads, and current job market
information.
The first workshop, entitled "Who Am I? Taking Personal Inventories,"
will focus on how to take a personal life inventory and why this is a
necessary step in the career-seeking process. The workshop will be held
on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 6 p.m. at 302 E. Pettigrew Street,
Suite 190, Durham. It will be taught by Life Coach Justin Reid, who has
over 25 years of experience in the human services industry as a trainer,
life, and career coach.
The second workshop, entitled "Transitions: Defining Career Goals &
Developing Your Plan," will focus on how to define career goals and
develop a plan and why this is a vital step in the job search process.
This workshop will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 302 E.
Pettigrew Street, Suite 190, Durham. It will be taught by Katrina Gooch,
owner of Visions Business Solutions, a community and business leader
with over 20 years of coaching and leadership development experience.
Participants interesting in learning more about the Professional
Placement Network or attending the workshops should visit the City's
website at www.DurhamNC.gov/departments/eed/durham_ppn.cfm or contact
Sontina Greene, adult program coordinator with the City's Office of
