Fast Facts:

* The City's Departments of Public Works and Transportation are
ready to present a draft Planning Report, which includes an
environmental screening, traffic study, and conceptual design, to widen
Hope Valley Road from Woodcroft Parkway to South Roxboro Street and
realign the intersection of Hope Valley Road and South Roxboro Street.

* According to City staff, Hope Valley Road from Woodcroft
Parkway to South Roxboro Street does not operate efficiently under
current traffic volumes and will only worsen as traffic increases in the
coming years.

* In order to address this issue, the departments have been
working with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. on a traffic study as well
as a conceptual design for the project. The project will include roadway
widening, traffic signal upgrades, sidewalks, bike lanes, and
realignment of the Hope Valley Road and South Roxboro Street
intersection.

* The conceptual design proposes widening Hope Valley Road from
a two-lane road to a four-lane divided road from Woodcroft Parkway to
South Roxboro Street to accommodate projected traffic increases through
2030. Additionally, turn lanes are proposed on Hope Valley Road at the
intersections of Woodcroft Parkway, South Roxboro Street, and Meadow Run
Drive.

* City staff and the consultant team will be present to discuss
the project, results of the draft planning study, the impact to property
owners within the project corridor, the project timeline, and answer
questions.

* Additional information, including project maps of the proposed
construction, is available on the City's website at
www.DurhamNC.gov/departments/works/hopevalleyroad.cfm.

* For additional information, contact Tim Jackson, project
manager with the City's Public Works Department, at (919) 560-4326, ext.
30255 or by e-mail at Tim.Jackson at DurhamNC.gov.

* The City of Durham will provide auxiliary aids and services
under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for disabled persons who
wish to participate in this public information meeting. Anyone requiring
special services should contact the City's ADA Coordinator at (919)
560-4197, ext. 21254; TTY at (919) 560-1200; or via e-mail at
ADA at DurhamNC.gov, as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before
the scheduled meeting.
