City Hall Plaza Construction Update

Construction update announcing upcoming construction items for Week of
March 14-18, 2011

 

City Hall Plaza Set to Close for Construction March 14

Beginning Monday, March 14, City Hall Plaza will close to all vehicular
traffic and will remain closed for four months. Pedestrians will have
access to all public entrances to City Hall throughout the project.

 

Lanier Contracting will barricade City Hall Plaza and begin mobilizing
equipment and materials for the project on Monday.  The project is
scheduled for completion in July. For more information, visit the City

Disability Access to City Hall Located on Liberty Street for Two Weeks

 

The City Hall Plaza Improvement Project will temporarily eliminate
disability drop-offs in front of City Hall. During the first two weeks
of the project, residents who require access to a ramp should access
City Hall from Liberty Street.

 

Traffic on Liberty Street will be reduced to one lane to facilitate
drop-offs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  After construction is completed on
Mangum Street adjacent to City Hall, the semi-circle will be used for
disability drop-offs for the duration of the project

 

Motorcycle and bicycle owners will not have direct access to their
parking area during the first two weeks of the project.

 

 

 

Disability ramp connecting the sidewalk on Liberty Street to the plaza
area between City Hall and the Annex. This will serve as a disability
access to City Hall during the first 10-14 days of the project.

Existing van drop-off located in the semi-circle on Mangum Street
adjacent to City Hall. This area will be closed for approximately 10-14
days beginning March 14 for storm drainage construction.
