See below. I wish I could be more involved in this, as it is right near my kids'
school. I have written these guys with my request that a public bus stop be put
around here at the very least so parents without easily accessible cars can get
to Creekside for special events, to volunteer, etc., but I also think it could
help with Durham traffic in this area in the long run. Chapel Hill and Carrboro
have free bussing, but this doesn't help Durham residents who need to get to a
Durham public school. Plus if Durham dropped off here, and Chapel Hill picked up
here, then people could get from Durham to Chapel Hill for work, play, etc.

Subject: NC 54 - Public Drop-in Session
NC-54/I-40 Corridor Study Phase II - Public Drop-in Sessions Scheduled
March 29, 2011 and April 11, 2011
The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO),
City of Durham, Durham County, and the Town of Chapel Hill will host an informal
drop-in session on March 29 and April 11, 2011 to obtain citizen input on
transportation alternatives for the NC 54 corridor near the I-40 Interchange and
Farrington Road. This analysis is in response to citizen feedback received on
the recommendations included in the draft report released in August 2010
http://www.nc54-i40corridorstudy.com/pdffiles/FINALPublicComments_NC54Draft_122210.pdf.
The study team has completed the initial roadway analysis identified in the
Phase II work plan
(http://www.nc54-i40corridorstudy.com/pdffiles/NC54_PhaseII_WorkPlan.pdf).
Several preliminary roadway alternatives are now available for review and
consideration. Before advancing to a more in-depth technical analysis, the
study team would like to share the alternatives with the public in-order to seek
guidance and input.
Citizens are invited to drop by any time between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to view
the alternatives, talk with staff, and complete a comment card. A short
presentation will be given on the hour at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00.
For more information, please contact Leta Huntsinger with the DCHC MPO at (919)
560-4366 ext. 36423 or via e-mail at leta.huntsinger at durhamnc.gov. Meeting
