DURHAM, N.C. - The following highlights from the April 4, 2011 Durham
City Council meeting and other topics of interest will be featured in
the upcoming episode of "City Hall This Week." The show begins airing on
Friday, April 8 at 8 p.m. and will also be available to watch on demand

More Revisions for One of the City's Economic Development and Incentive
Policies

The City's Resolution Establishing an Economic Development Financial
Assistance and Incentive Policy for Job Creation and Capital Investment
has been revised. The policy was established in 2008 and revised again
last year. The resolution approved by the City Council makes another
round of changes - all working toward stimulating economic growth in key
areas of the city. Office of Economic and Workforce Development Director
Kevin Dick explains why the changes were needed on the upcoming episode
of "City Hall This Week."

Brownfields Program Provides Additional Job Training for More Durham
Residents

Thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Brownfields
Program, an additional 75 residents from Northeast Central Durham and
the surrounding area will soon receive valuable job training. The City
will use a $143,000 grant from the EPA to pay Durham Technical Community
College to provide the training. The goal is for participants to use the
environmental technology skills they learn to compete for and earn
positions in the green job markets. Durham Technical Community College
has been providing Brownfields Job Training for the City since 2008.

Potentially Unsafe Railroad Crossings to Come Under Review

Redundant and potentially unsafe highway and railroad crossings
throughout Durham will soon come under closer scrutiny. The North
Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct a Traffic Separation
Study to determine whether any of the city's at-grade crossings should
be improved or eliminated. The City Council approved a $20,000 contract
for the City's share of the study. Technical Services Assistant Director
Wesley Parham with the City's Transportation Department explains why the
study is needed and what its area of focus will be on the upcoming
episode of "City Hall This Week."

Other interviews featured on upcoming episode of "City Hall This Week":

* Office of Economic and Workforce Development Director Kevin
Dick - Offers a look at the state of the Durham's economy.
