Please spread the word since it is very important that word get out to the
nearby residents, businesses, those driving on Club Blvd. and DATA bus
riders.

· Asbestos removal at BB&T Building* (also called abatement) scheduled
for July 5th through 9th 2011

Following is an excerpt from the State DENR notice regarding the
above-referenced asbestos removal and building demolition:
³The Dry-Cleaning Solvent Clean-up Act (DSCA) Program has been conducting an
investigation of the dry-cleaning contamination associated with the former
BB&T Site at 1103 W. Club Blvd . The DSCA Program is preparing to implement
an interim remedial strategy to prevent exposure to contamination at the
subject property.
In accordance with our program¹ statutes, the community had an opportunity
to review and comment on the proposed remedial strategy and provided in the
Interim Risk Management Plan (IRMP). The Interim Risk Management Plan,
DSCA¹s Response to Public Comments on the IRMP, and updates to the project
are available for review on the DSCA website
(http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wm/dsca/bbt_updates
<http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wm/dsca/bbt_updates> ). During the demolition
activities at the subject site, ambient air conditions will be monitored
throughout the demolition activities. Occupants of surrounding properties
will be notified in person should air monitoring exceed 10 parts per million
(ppm).

*Based on the above, it is my personal recommendation that, as a
health-related precaution, young children, the elderly, and those with
compromised respiratory systems consider staying inside while the asbestos
removal and demolition of the former dry cleaners building is occurring at
the former BB&T site listed above.
