Durham Offers Small Business Workshop Sept. 29
Year-Long Free Workshop Series Designed to Support Small Business Growth
and Development;
Second Seminar Set for September 29th

Fast Facts:
* This seminar will familiarize local small businesses with
financial and technical assistance offered by the Small Business
Technology & Development Center located at North Carolina Central
University in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
This training, conducted by Mary Speight, assistant regional director
for the center, will also cover all assistance programs offered at the
center with opportunities to ask questions and seek appointments for
future follow-up.
* The workshop is the second in a series of workshops developed
by the City's Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Department to provide
technical assistance services to local, small businesses for this fiscal
year. These free workshops are open to all interested small business
owners and entrepreneurs.
* Participants are asked to pre-register for each seminar by
visiting the City's website at
www.DurhamNC.gov/Departments/Equal/Training_Request.cfm or by contacting
Vincent Wingate, senior equal opportunity/equity assurance specialist
with the City's Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Department, by e-mail

About the Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Department
The City of Durham's Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Department is
responsible for the implementation of the City's Equal Business
Opportunity Program. Responsibilities include implementation of race and
gender neutral measures to facilitate the participation of Small
Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (SDBE) in City contracting activity,
recruitment, certification, and maintenance of SDBE data bank, business
development, City project compliance, monitoring, and reporting. To
