This info and a Spanish translation should go out in every Friday folder in every DPS school this week (should have gone out last week). I've asked my PTA about it (at least to do it for our school), but I agree that it is not their place to fund print-outs for this ... nor is it the school's responsibility (we all know they don't have the money for printing this info -- teachers are on paper rations, for goodness' sake).
But the city is missing a big opportunity to reach people who otherwise will not get this information. I hope that the appropriate city department (city council) will consider this going forward and will commit to provide copies (and translations) to the schools for dissemination. I know there are a lot of families who could use this service and they simply aren't going to know about it.
Keep in mind that most DPS students are city residents, even though the land their school is on is technically in the county (everything else around the school is within the city). Again, this is a cheap way for the city to reach people (b/c they don't have to pay for shipping to these school families in order to inform them of this important city service).
It'd be a great show of collaboration with the county as well.
