[Durham INC] DTV8 Debuts New "CityLife" Tonight

New "CityLife" Airing Tonight on DTV8

 

Now that Durham's downtown is thriving and considered by many to be a
true success story for revitalization, the City of Durham is turning its
attention - and resources - to the neighborhoods that surround downtown.
One community that will soon benefit from a massive investment and
community rebuilding project is the Southside neighborhood, encompassing
the former Rolling Hills area. 

 

This month, "CityLife" Host Beverly B. Thompson is joined by Community
Development Department Interim Director Reginald Johnson to discuss this
immense revitalization project, when residents can expect to see
progress, and the impact it will have on the quality of life for all who
call this area of our community home.

 

"CityLife" also goes outside of the studio to talk with Marie Hunter,
president of the Southside Neighborhood Association, and Evan
Covington-Chavez, director of Real Estate for the Center for Community
Self-Help, to see first-hand the changes already occurring in Southside
and what's next for this historic community. 

 

"CityLife" also chats with Karl Schlatcher, senior vice president of
McCormack Baron Salazar, to learn about the developer's plans for the
Rolling Hills portion of Southside and when residents will soon see
bulldozers on site turning this now-vacant area into new, affordable
housing.
