Durham County Library Hosts Discussion of PlayMakers' The Making of A King

Program: In the Wings: Playmakers on Henry IV and Henry V
Date: Monday, January 30
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Main Library

About: Actors Shawn Fagan, Kelsey Didion and Cody Nickell, and scenic designer Jan Chambers, will discuss the PlayMakers Repertory Company's current production of William Shakespeare's Henry IV and Henry V. An epic, coming-of-age tale that follows the education of young Prince Hal from his unpromising start in bawdy houses and taverns, to his rise as one of England's greatest monarchs, King Henry the Fifth. PlayMakers' production takes the audience from palaces to battlefields, from civil war in Britain to battles in the "vasty fields of France." The discussion takes place on Monday, January 30 at 7 p.m., at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St. For more information about the program, contact Joanne Abel at 560-0268.
PlayMakers, the professional theatre in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, presents work from the American and European canon by playwrights such as Shakespeare, Molière, Beckett, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams, as well as plays from the finest contemporary writers, including August Wilson, Tom Stoppard, Suzan-Lori Parks, Tony Kushner, and Dael Orlandersmith. Considered the leading theatre of the Carolinas, PlayMakers has been honored by the Drama League of New York as one of the best regional theatres in the country.
This event is part of the "In the Wings" series, a partnership between PlayMakers and Durham County Library that gives participants a backstage view of PlayMakers' productions. In the Wings is sponsored by Durham Library Foundation.
