                        300 N. Roxboro St.

About: Durham County Library will host a film screening of My Brother A Muslim on Saturday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro Street. Durham filmmaker Wil Weldon will share the story of his brother Jon's discovery of a unique branch of Islam in Africa, and Jon's eventual conversion to that faith.

As the grandson of two distinguished Methodist ministers, Jon may have been predisposed to spiritual quests. The film traces Jon's childhood in Thomasville, North Carolina through his years on national championship track and cross country teams at Stanford University, then follows him on his journey deep within the sub-Saharan refuge where he met a prominent West African Shaykh. Issues of family, birth and rebirth, self-identity and unconditional love are explored in the telling of this story. Wil Weldon will lead a discussion after the film.

For more information about the program, contact Joanne Abel at 560-0268. This program is sponsored, in part, by Durham Library Foundation.

Durham County Library provides the entire community with books, services and other resources that inform, inspire learning, cultivate understanding and excite the imagination. For more information, visit your local library or visit us online at durhamcountylibrary.org.
