Durham County Library Hosts Film on Environmentalist Aldo Leopold
Program: Green Fire: Aldo Leopold & a Land Ethic for Our Time
Date: Sunday, March 18
Time: 3 p.m.
Location: Main Library
300 N. Roxboro St.
Cost: Free and open to the public
About: Durham County Library will host a film screening of Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time on Sunday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro Street.
Green Fire highlights Aldo Leopold's extraordinary career, tracing how he shaped and influenced the modern environmental movement. Leopold is the author of the classic Sand County Almanac, which the American Nature Study Society considers one of the most significant environmental books of the 20th century. Leopold defined his land ethic, stating that a responsible relationship exists between people and the land they inhabit. Leopold remains relevant today, inspiring projects all over the country that connect people and land. The film's narrator, Dr. Curt Meine - an Aldo Leopold biographer, a senior fellow with the Aldo Leopold Foundation and associate adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison - will lead the discussion after the film.
For more information about the program, contact Joanne Abel at 560-0268. This program is sponsored, in part, by Durham Library Foundation.
Durham County Library provides the entire community with books, services and other resources that inform, inspire learning, cultivate understanding and excite the imagination. For more information, visit your local library or visit us online at durhamcountylibrary.org.
