New "City Hall This Week" Begins Tonight

New Episode Begins Airing Friday, March 23 on DTV8 and

"On Demand" on Monday, March 26 on the City's DTV8 Website

 

DURHAM, N.C. - The following highlights from the March 19, 2012 Durham
City Council meetings and other topics of interest will be featured in
this episode of "City Hall This Week." The show begins airing on Friday,
March 23 at 8 p.m. and will also be available to watch on demand on
Monday, March 26 at www.DurhamNC.gov/DTV8/CityHallThisWeek.cfm. 

 

2011 Annual Crime Report Offers Encouraging News

The Police Department's 2011 Annual Crime Report is offering some
encouraging news for Durham. Part One crime dropped to a 10-year low in
the City last year. Part One Index Crime is the total number of violent
and property crimes. Violent crime includes homicide, rape, robbery, and
aggravated assault. Property crime includes burglary, larceny, and motor
vehicle theft. Chief Jose Lopez Sr. explains the numbers further on this
episode of "City Hall This Week."

 

Police Department Continues to Upgrade In-Car Video Systems

Phase two of a project to upgrade the Police Department's In-Car Video
System is underway. The City Council approved a $322,446 contract for
the project. It includes replacing the department's previous in-car
video system with state-of-the-art digital in-car video, wireless
upload, and a new storage and management system.  This phase will
involve 38 vehicles and wireless installations at Police Headquarters
and three additional substations.

 

Former Downtown Durham Bus Transfer Station to House Museum of Durham
History

The former Downtown Durham Bus Transfer Station will soon be put to good
use - as the new home of the Museum of Durham History. The City Council
approved a three-year lease for the building, which is located at 521 W.
Morgan St. It will be used as an exhibit space and education center
celebrating Durham's past and present. The $1,800 per year lease will
begin in September and expire in August 2015.

"City Hall This Week" is a news program dedicated to informing Durham
residents about what is going on inside Durham's City Hall. Each edition
is taped on the first and third Tuesday of the month - the day after
City Council meetings. It airs three times a day on DTV8 (Time Warner
Cable channel 8) through the week of the next City Council meeting.
