Celebrate National Public Works Week Tomorrow

Public Invited to Northgate Mall to Learn About Public Works Services
and Equipment; 

Mayor William V. "Bill" Bell Declares May 21-25 National Public Works
Week

Fast Facts:

*         Visit Public Works staff at center court inside Northgate Mall
and learn about the City's Public Works Department, including Stormwater
Services, Engineering Design, Surveying, Street Maintenance, Development
Review, and Geographic Information Systems. 

	*	Public Works equipment will also be on display in the
Sears parking lot. The public is invited to learn about some of the
tools that City staff uses to maintain the community's infrastructure
such as dump trucks, motor graders, pothole patch trucks, street
sweepers, and flush trucks.
	*	Residents can also learn about the various careers
opportunities in Public Works.

 

*         Last night, Mayor William V. "Bill" Bell declared May 21-25 as
National Public Works Week. Residents are encouraged to visit the
display in the Durham City Hall lobby this week to learn more about how
the Public Works Department impacts the lives of Durham residents and
visitors.

 

*         The purpose of these events is to educate the public about the
important contributions that the Public Works Department makes to their
daily lives - planning, building, managing, operating and maintaining
the heart of our local communities and building quality of life. These
events are part of National Public Works Week, sponsored by the American
Public Works Association.
