New "City Hall This Week" Debuts Tonight

New Episode Begins Airing Friday, July 13 on DTV8 and "On Demand" on
City's YouTube Channel

 

DTV8's "City Hall This Week" will debut a new show tonight at 8 p.m.
Hosted by Senior Public Affairs Specialist Amy Blalock, this show will
feature the following highlights and other topics of interest. You can

Durham Reviewing Rules Regulating Water and Sewer Extensions and Land
Outside City Limits

Durham is reviewing its rules and regulations governing how it
approaches new development outside the city limits. At the City
Council's direction, the City Administration is looking at how it
handles water and sewer extensions, annexations, territory outside the
city limits, and aligning City and County zoning decisions. Proposals on
those issues are expected to be ready in September.

 

Southside Groundbreaking Ceremony July 17

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Southside Revitalization Project will
be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 9:30 a.m. The event will commemorate the
beginning of construction on the first phase of the rental development
on East Lakewood Avenue, which is located at the former Rolling Hills
site. The first phase of the project will include 119 rental units and
13 "live-work" units located at Lakewood Avenue and Roxboro Street.
Current Southside residents are encouraged to attend the ceremony.

 

July is Smart Irrigation Month

The City is marking Smart Irrigation Month by reminding residents and
businesses to use Durham's water wisely. The month is set aside to help
promote irrigation devices and awareness that help to take the strain
off the City's water supply during what is usually the peak watering
month of the year. Water Management Department Conservation Specialist
Laine Roberts explains how residents and businesses can help conserve
water.

 

City Council to Hold First Work Session of New Fiscal Year

The City Council will hold its first work session of the new fiscal year
on Thursday, July 19 at 1 p.m. in the Council Committee Room on the
second floor of City Hall. If you can't attend in person, you can listen
to the meeting in its entirety through the DTV8 link on the City's
website. 

 

"We Care" Features City Employees Donating Blood to the American Red
Cross

City employees are used to giving of themselves for the greater good of
the Durham community, but some of them recently took that idea a step
further to help save lives. In this week's "We Care" special segment,
there's yet another reason why Durham residents can take great pride in
their City employees, many of whom recently donated life-saving blood to
the American Red Cross.
